How to Wash Wool & Knitwear

For your convenience, use the bottle cap for measuring. Use ½–1 capful for hand washing or 1 capful per machine load.

For best results, we recommend hand washing wool in cold water to maintain fibre structure and prevent shrinkage.

Gently agitate and rinse without wringing.

If machine washing, use a wool or delicate cycle, and place garments in a delicates bag for added protection.

Pre-treat stains with Stain Savvy laundry stick prior to washing.

Q1: What is the best detergent for wool and cashmere?

A specialist wool detergent designed for protein fibres is best. Regular detergents can strip natural oils, weaken fibres and cause wool to lose softness and shape.

Q2: Can I wash wool at home instead of dry cleaning?

Yes. Many wool and cashmere garments can be safely washed at home using cold water, gentle handling and a specialist wool wash.

Q3: Why shouldn’t wool be washed with regular detergent?

Regular detergents are designed for rudimentary fabric washing and not for the needs of the protein fibres of wool. They often contain surfactants and enzymes damage wool fibres.

Q4: Does this help reduce wool itchiness?

Yes. By protecting fibre integrity and avoiding harsh chemistry, Wool Savvy helps wool feel softer and more comfortable against the skin.

I love, love, love your gentle non-chemical products and the scent is heavenly. I use ’Silk Savvy’ on all my delicate clothes - especially silk camisoles, Saba blouses and Anthea Crawford clothing, and especially on pillowslips. Smells divine and woollens come out smelling beautiful. Only a capful goes into my front loading washiing machine on a wool wash and it is more than enough. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE

Wool smells wonderful & feels soft

Such a fresh scent that leaves a beautiful subtle fragrance on your wool after washing. Only needed to use a tiny bit. Tried it on a merino jumper, wool blanket & cashmere scarf. All perfect! I also like that it has the cedar in it to protect from moths. Great product. Well done Bon Savvy!!
